Any retailer’s calendar pivots around the key seasonal offers and trends that influence their customers’ buying habits, culminating, of course, with every retailer’s favourite time of year – Christmas.

In the modern world of POS, displays that are visible outside of a store are just as important as those within them – and what could be more festive than a show-stopping seasonal window display? Christmas window displays, in particular those of department stores, have become so synonymous with the festive period that the unveiling of them has become an event in itself. The Coca-Cola Truck

For many customers, it wouldn’t be Christmas without catching the “Holidays are coming” television advert featuring the iconic red Coca-Cola truck. Quickly realising the emotive influence that their festive campaign brings, Coca-Cola set about installing stores with cardboard replicas of the famous truck to bring some Christmas spirit to their displays of cans and bottles. Coca-Cola even pays some superstores a visit with the real thing to get customers in the festive mood.

Halloween is all about dressing up, exaggerated decorations and sugary sweets, and this is a combination which works extremely well for retailers. So much so that, after Christmas, Halloween is swiftly becoming one of the retail industry’s biggest seasonal occasions. The season provides retailers with the opportunity to truly get creative and implement themed POS to entertain their customers while pulling together the season’s core products. From in-store haunted houses to seasonally decorated aisles, retailers really do push the boat out when it comes to Halloween.

As the summer months’ approach, we’d all love to be jetting off to an exotic getaway. Retailers know this all too well, and summer POS displays are all about creating that holiday feeling.

Marks and Spencer’s Spirit of Summer range features 300 products inspired by the food of the Americas, and includes the company’s new ‘pie dogs’, aimed at the picnic market. Variety of product takes centre-stage when it comes to summer inspiration at M&S for its Summer ’16 campaign. A combination of clearly defined signage, easy to decipher mix and match deals and well-merchandised stalls has made its POS installation an attractive destination point for a customer walking through the retailer’s shop floor.
