Retailers really have pulled out all the stops in 2017. We have seen a new level of innovation in store and installation design.
So much so that, earlier this year, we started our very own hashtag - #RetailDesignSpotlight - so that we could share and congratulate those retailers and brands which have captivated consumers by creating design masterpieces.
Here are just a few of the Momentum Instore team’s favorites from 2017…
The Swedish fashion brand has taken the UK by storm in 2017, opening stores at Westfield in Stratford and in Glasgow. This design centres around a fun and vibrant merry-go-round with coordinating lines and a central display of complimentary accessories. This design stood out to us because it’s beautifully unique and very relevant to its customers who are young and empowered fashion lovers.
Andronico’s Community Market, San Francisco
This stunning display of fresh fruit and veg makes us actually look forward to our January detox. Andronico’s grocery displays are eye-catching and colourful but also simple, using the quality of the produce to sell itself. Their brand values are all about selling the freshest foods in a friendly and down-to-earth environment and we think their fabulous displays do just that.
Quirky Brazillian shoe brand, Melissa, has made a spectacle of its flagship store ‘Galeria Melissa’ in SoHo, New York. The store was designed to resemble a futuristic gallery space – a fusion of art and fashion. Design studio SOFTlab used 20,000 flowers to create this particular installation but there are many more innovative displays in store. Shoes made entirely of recycled PVC material are mounted high on pedestals, while psychedelic video art is projected behind the shoes, creating an interactive consumer space.
Scandinavian design is up there yet again with this minimalist, yet stylish, Christmas display by furniture retailer, Normann. Yes, it’s in a completely different galaxy from the loud and glitzy retail displays unveiled by the majority of retailers during the festive period. But, at Momentum Instore, we think this helps them to stand out to their customers and show off their products in a way which is true to their brand.
Every year retailers up their game to create bigger, better and more exciting installations that bring their brands to life. 2017 has been a fantastic year for retail design and innovation and the Momentum Instore team can’t wait to see what lies in store for next year!
