We noticed that the beauty industry was pretty wasteful, especially when it came to the supply chain. Too much goes to waste in landfill every year.
The vision for L’Oréal was to work with their partners (in this case, Momentum as merchandiser / installer, and Willson Brown as the manufacturer) to bring everyone involved from design through to end of life together, with a clear focus of providing a 100% efficient and sustainable system. To fundamentally shift this traditionally linear process to a closed loop system.
So, stands need to be reusable – not just recyclable, but reusable. To do this, it starts with the design. It has to influence the materials used in manufacture. And finally, it has to govern how they elements and parts are processed and stored throughout their lifecycle.
Momentum’s role within the system is clear. Our Aftermarket facility manages parts and kit which can be used across any L’Oréal brand in any retail store. We when we merchandise a stand, we use our regional depot network to reduce card emissions from deliveries. So, where in the olden days, a used cassette from a beauty stand would have been chucked in landfill, it now goes back to Momentum’s Aftermarket facility to be reused or repurposed. Any that can’t be reused, get recycled by the manufacturing partner into new stands. Thus closing the loop in the system.
Furthermore, all travel is also offset with Ecologi, a B-Corp certified company.
Beautifully sustainable.
